My Background Serves You
My Real Estate Career...
began in 1999, and I look forward to many years serving buyers and sellers in Bellingham/Whatcom County, and elsewhere in Western Washington. Since joining Keller Williams, I have been among the top three in production by an individual agent. In 2005 and 2006, I was awarded Agent of the Year at the Keller Williams Western Realty Market Center in recognition of my production success and customer service activities.
In addition to serving clients, I recently completed three years as a member of the Board of Directors of the Whatcom County Association of Realtors (WCAR). I currently chair the WCAR New Agent Orientation committee, another way I serve my colleagues and our profession. My colleagues awarded me Whatcom County Association of Realtors' Agent of the Quarter (2nd quarter of 2006 and 4th quarter of 2007), for which I am deeply honored.

Other Professional Activity
I have a PhD in Medical and Family Sociology, have served as a college professor at three different universities including the University of Chicago, and as an international board-certified lactation consultant in private practice. I founded, and served as editor-in-chief, a peer-reviewed health professional journal for 11 years. My 200+ publications include a best-selling textbook considered essential reading in the lactation field.
Away from the Office...
I enjoy beach-combing or wandering the hiking trails near Mt. Baker (previously, my Siberian Husky, Keesha, led the way!), and gardening in my backyard. I have lived in and visited 40 of the 50 United States and several other countries. And, for five years, I enjoyed a week or so riding my favorite horse, Mohave, at the White Stallion Ranch near Tucson, Arizona. In January 2006, I enjoyed a fabulous week in the Yucatan, in the capable hands of the tour guides at Ecoturismo Yucatan. Should you ever want an ecotour vacation that includes Mayan ruins, beach activity, wonderful food, etc., contact Alfonso Escobedo and company. You won't be disappointed! Most evenings, you will find me writing fiction--a complete departure from my "day job," and one that keeps me looking forward to whatever comes my way.
Community Activity
I sing in my church choir and at community gatherings. Knitting and crocheting shawls for persons in need is another way I provide a "quiet contribution" to the larger community.
Our office is community-oriented. We have participated in the annual Ski-to-Sea parade. In 2007, our float won First Place in the Commercial Division, First Place of the County Executive Award, and The Grand Sweepstakes First Prize! More importantly, we had great fun enjoying the crowds and camaraderie with the other float-makers, riders, and parade walkers. A special treat was waving to and receiving many "thumbs-up" from clients along the route!
My Professional Philosophy
My orientation is informed, personalized service to each of my clients, as exemplified by my slogan, "Together, we’ll get it done!"

I like helping people solve a real estate-related problem. The challenges my clients pose and our work together encourages and informs my own growth (both personal and professional); I am rewarded most completely when, throughout the transaction and especially at closing, we have a happy buyer and a happy seller. This goal is in keeping with the Keller Williams philosophy of "Win-Win or No Deal."
